The recently published SOLAS National Skills Bulletin 2023 provides valuable insights on labour market trends in Ireland. It includes employment outlooks for around 95 occupations, highlighting where skills and labour market difficulties are occurring. The report aims to assist policy formulation in the areas of employment, education/ training, and immigration.

In overall terms, the report highlights Ireland's strong employment recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, including in those sectors that had been particularly affected by the pandemic such as accommodation and food and the construction sectors. The number of persons employed has increased to a record annual average of 2.55 million, as has the employment rate, while the number of unemployed has fallen. Increased participation, mainly among females and young workers, is a key factor supporting the strong employment recovery.
