Introduction
Workplace health and well-being is the subject of a recent report by the World Economic Forum. It is based upon a global survey of 30,000 employees in 30 countries. The report encourages organisations to prioritise employee health and well-being against the backdrop that “burnout” rates are rising, chronic diseases are becoming more prevalent, and people are working longer. Globally, total healthcare costs are expected to continue rising, particularly as populations age. Regulatory requirements are also becoming more stringent, including directives on health and safety, working hours, work-life balance and Telework.
Given demographic trends, the age profile of workforces across many countries is increasing. Innovative workforce planning, including training older workers and leveraging their experiences, can help maintain a talented and diverse workforce.
