Innovation Capability Development in Ireland
Summary
As part of its commitment to supporting original research of direct relevance to our members and the L&D community, the IITD and Trainers’ Learning Skillnet are delighted to announce the launch of our latest report on Innovation Capability Development in Ireland.
Undertaken by Laurence Knell of Strategic Innovation Partners this research was designed to assess and evaluate current approaches to innovation training in Ireland and establish which are the most impactful forms of innovation and creativity training, delivering the most effective outcomes for both individuals and organisations.
Those attending will gain insight into:
- The current state of innovation training in Ireland
- Techniques and approaches used to support enhanced innovation capabilities in Ireland
- Specific methods used in the delivery and evaluation of innovation training in Ireland
- How approaches in Ireland compare to international best practice
This research was supported by Trainers Learning Skillnet and Irish Institute of Training & Development (IITD), with funding through Skillnet Ireland - provided by the Department of Education and Skills, National Training Fund.

Module 1 - Certificate in Training Needs Analysis & Training Design
The L&DI Certificate in Training Need Analysis & Design programme is specifically designed to enable participants to develop the necessary knowledge, skills and confidence to identify and analyse training needs, and to plan, design and develop relevant training interventions.

Module 2 - Trainer Skills Certificate
The L&DI Trainer Skills Certificate programme is specifically designed to enable participants to develop the necessary knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver and evaluate training activities pertinent to those responsible for the training of others in organisations.
The programme offers participants the opportunity to achieve recognised certification as an effective trainer. Awards include:
- L&DI Trainer Skills Certificate
- QQI/FETAC Level 6 Component Award – Training Delivery & Evaluation – 6N3326
Module 1 of the PPC is the L&DI Certificate in Training Needs Analysis & Design (can be taken independently).
The qualifications pathway through the L&DI has been a real journey for me. From the Level 6 Professional Practice Certificate to the Level 7 Diploma with UCC, L&DI has supported me every step of the way.
